HOW TO BE AN ORGANISED MUM?
You’ve just had a baby and you’ve probably discovered that the first few months can be extremely stressful. Taking care of your little one takes a lot of time without even mentioning all the washing, cleaning and cooking that also needs doing. A lot of mums find it difficult to 'keep it together' while their partner is at work. Here is why we came up with a few tips on how to be organised.
As a new mum you definitely need a plan that will help you with organising your daily routine. Write down times when your baby sleeps and eats. This way you'll be able to see how you can work your duties around the baby's needs. When the little one is asleep it’s your time for washing, cooking and cleaning. Don't worry if things aren't perfect in the beginning. It takes time to get used to the new routine and your new role as a mum.
To help you stay organised write everyday 'a must do' list. Once you have it all written down, it will be easier for you to plan ahead. Eventually you'll learn your baby's routine, which will help you judge the length of time you have for everyday duties. Also create a list of meals for a week. This way it will be easier for you to plan the cooking schedule. I highly recommend cooking meals for a few days as it will save you a lot of time.
Having a new baby is certainly hard and you shouldn't be afraid to ask for help. This is the perfect opportunity for grandparents, godparents and your friends to get involved so you can have some rest while they’re watching the baby. Ask them to help you with your shopping or cooking whilst you are focusing on other things. It can be quite difficult at first to manage everything by yourself, therefore don't hesitate asking for help. I would also like to advise you not to treat your partner like a babysitter, but like a father. This may seem a bit crazy but a lot of women try to manage everything by themselves, forgetting that a father should also take on some of the responsibilities with the baby and the domestic chores.
Some mums just seem to keep it together. How do they do it? They have a plan that helps them stay organised. Every mum needs to work out her own system. Don't worry that at first everything will seem a bit 'all over the place'. Organising your home and creating a plan that works for you takes time. This is why it's very important that you ask for help so you are not in it by yourself. Eventually you'll find a perfect routine that will allow you to have a bit more time for yourself. Whatever you do, remember that you are great and you can handle everything.
